Finally A Fun New Word For Female Masturbation
The Swedish Association for Sexuality Education (RFSU) last year decided to find a word for female masturbation since there wasn’t one in Swedish language. Round of applause to the Swedish minds hard at work to put female masturbation in the conversation!
Finally a fun new word for female masturbation, in Swedish, at least.
As RFSU spokeswoman Kristina Ljungros said “When it comes to masturbation, people mostly think about just men doing it and we don’t think of it as common for women. If we don’t have a word in the language, how can we even talk about it?” If there isn’t a word to describe female masturbation how is it possible to talk about it?
Men have a series of colourful words that describe male masturbation. One of which is the word ‘jack off’, it actually is a pretty awesome descriptive word for male masturbation – just the right amount of edgy boldness and not too dirty. Of course, it’s also very male. It’s totally a guy’s phrase.
So yes, for a long while there has been a need for a similar word for female masturbation and the Swedish have taken it on to come up with one.
The RFSU welcomed the nation’s women to submit their own suggestions, and from a shortlist of forty words “klittra” won by a landslide, besting other favorites like “runka” and “pulla.”
Maybe “Klittra” is not the ideal word but it sure got people talking about it, and hopefully in the very near future there will be a better more encompassing word for female masturbation that does pack a punch like ‘jerking off’ does for men.
Now RFSU is hard at work to include this new word in the next publication of their dictionary to officially make it a word.
